Wondering what kind of Hong Kong souvenirs to buy that are actually one of a kind?
Well, you’ve come to the right place, as I’m a Hong Kong local who has been living in Hong Kong for more than 20 years!
1. Hong Kong milk tea
If you come to Hong Kong but you haven’t tried the authentic Hong Kong milk tea…ARE YOU SERIOUS?!

Hong Kong milk tea is cherished for its bold, robust tea flavor, made possible by an extended brewing process.
The tea is carefully strained through a unique tea sock and boiled repeatedly, creating a rich, full-bodied drink with a deep color, vibrant shine, and a rich-layered taste.
They are literally… THE BEST.
That being said, the Black and white milk tea cups are so famous and I’ve some across many reddit post saying where can they buy it.

These cups are not really on sale. If you want to buy it, go to the Shanghai street!
And if you want to buy some classic milk back to your country and give it to your friends, well, go for the bottle version that are easily available in supermarkets!

Disclaimer: This one is with sugar by default (but it’s not too sweet)
2. Hong Kong style cute magnet
I know buying magnets can be cliché, but these are actually super cute in their cartoon form! 🧲✨

If you have a favorite food from your travels to Hong Kong, buying a magnet with its name on it can be a fun way to preserve the memories. 🥢🍴
From milk tea 🧋 to Cha Chaan Teng’s (Hong Kong-style cafés) French toast 🍞—and my all-time favorite, egg tarts 🥧—these magnets are just failproof! 💖

3. Hong Kong taxi light
When it comes to another Hong Kong icon, we just can’t miss the oh-so-classic Hong Kong red taxi. 🛻❤️

That being said, Hong Kong taxis actually come in three colors: red ❤️, green 💚, and the rare blue 💙!
A perfect gift for a Hong Kong taxi enthusiast, or simply for someone who misses zipping around the city. 🌆✨

From the city that never sleeps, the red taxi is a much-needed symbol. 🏙️🌙
If you want to bring a piece of Hong Kong streets back home, this taxi light works wonders. 🚦🛠️

This sign is an iconic piece that reminds us all of gleaming red cabs 🚗✨ and fun conversations with drivers. 🗣️😊

This particular design represents the classic 5-seater-style cab that has been in use since the 1970s. 🕰️🚕

Seriously, I don’t think many tourists buy this—I hope that’s a new one for you! 🎁💡
4. Lemon King
Lemon King was established by a former hawker, Tong Kan Pui, who first started selling preserved lemon snacks from a wooden trolley on Wing Kut Street, Sheung Wan, in the 1970s. 🛒🍋

After years of operation, Lemon King became popular among both Hong Kong customers and tourists. ✨🌏 There were times, however, when the wooden trolley was confiscated, halting the business. 😔
Thankfully, with the help of Hong Kong food critic Chua Lam and relevant government departments, Lemon King was awarded a fixed-pitch hawker’s license in 2008, allowing the business to stay on Wing Kut Street. 🎉🙌

Lemon King understands what makes traditional food great and is committed to offering the best products to its customers. 🌟💛
In addition to licorice lemons, they also offer ginger, plums, olives, dried peach, dried mango, and more for snack lovers. 🥭🍑🍒 Lemon King continues to uphold its vision of delivering only the best products. 💯
Speaking of their best-selling products, licorice lemons are undoubtedly at the top of the list! 🍋✨

Made with high-quality limes, the product tastes sweet. 🍭 Lime is rich in vitamin C 🍊, and its peels are high in calcium. 🦴✨
Licorice is a widely used Chinese herb with heat-clearing, detoxifying, and cough-and-pain-relieving effects. 🌿🩺
There’s a wide variety of products that you won’t find anywhere else. I highly recommend visiting in person rather than buying online—the experience is simply unmatched. 🎉🛍️

5. CHAN YEE JAI
Another classic traditional old hk snacks store – CHAN YEE JAI.
If you’ve visited there you would know the vibes there are just so legit and nostalgic – like go back to the good old 80s Hong Kong.

This is one of the reviews I’ve found from Openrice (The local food review platform):
“The store is clean but full of packed snacks surrounding ,please help yourself of selections. I got the fried dough and almond cookies ,fried dough are so crunchy and tasty – not sticking to your teeth liked other brands that I have tried!”

Have you guys tried this Bird’s nest cakes?!
This is such a hard find and I don’t think you can find this from the Hong Kong airport’s souvenir shop <3
6. XO Sauce
Another awesome and affordable souvenir you can buy for your foodie friend (or yourself – obviously 😜) is – you guessed it – the home-grown XO sauces. 🌶️✨

People, listen to me! You just have to try this XO sauce at least once.
It’s incredibly chewy and aromatic – it works on literally everything, from a simple bowl of rice 🍚 to braised tofu 🍲 to a veggie and prawns stir-fry 🥦🍤.

One of the most popular brands for XO sauce is definitely Lee Kum Kee – this is the brand that Hong Kong locals have been using for ages!
So yeah, it’s legit and not overpriced. 💯🙌
7. Hong Kong’s Octopus card
To make sure you have a hassle-free, fun time in Hong Kong 🏙️, the Octopus Card is the first thing you need to get once you arrive! 🎟️🐙

With just a simple tap, this card allows you to travel on all kinds of public transport – from the MTR 🚇 to the ferry ⛴️ – and you can even use it at convenience stores like 7-Eleven 🛒.

When you’re ready to leave Hong Kong, you can always get a refund 💰.

That being said, not many people know that there’s actually a cute mini Octopus Card available! 🐙✨ So, if you want to grab this as a souvenir keychain – go for it! 🔑🎁

8. The Hong Kong classic Red, white and blue bag
The red-white-blue bag is made from nylon canvas in the iconic colors of red, white, and blue.
It originated in Hong Kong in the 1960s and has since become a symbol of Hong Kong culture. 👜✨

The nylon canvas is known for being lightweight, firm, and highly durable. 💪🎒
That being said, Hong Kong locals don’t really use this bag anymore – except for the elderly 👵👴.
So, it’s more like a representation of old Hong Kong and its nostalgia. 🕰️❤️

If you’re wondering where you can buy one, well, you might get lucky if you visit some old neighbourhoods 🏘️.

One of the OGs is Wah Ngai Canvas – the birthplace of this classic red, white, and blue canvas bag. 🏭
Visit Wah Ngai Canvas and meet the owner, Lee Wah, who has been hand-making these durable nylon carryalls since the 1960s. 🧵✂️ This is your chance to take home a piece of Hong Kong’s history! 🎁✨
9. Hong Kong Tourist must have – Mister Softee
Alright, I know this isn’t a souvenir, but since I’m a super random person 🤪, I just feel like sharing this.

Any sweet tooths here? 🍦🍭 If yes, make sure to check out Mister Softee!
Mister Softee is an icon of Hong Kong 🇭🇰 – a mobile ice cream van with a unique white, red, and blue design 🚐🍨 and a charming music-box-style melody, “Blue Danube” 🎶.

It’s also super Instagrammable 📸✨ – whenever I walk by, I always see tourists snapping ice cream selfies 🍦🤳 in front of this adorable little van.

Not sure is that the most updated one but now it should be HKD 8-12 for the ice cream – I mean, pretty good deal isn’t it?!
If you wanna know more about Mister Softee, I’ve come across a pretty good article talking more about the Mister Softee history and info here <3
10. Hong Kong Souvenir: Egg roll
Of course, when it comes to most popular Hong Kong Souvenir, how could we skip the egg roll?

Take your pick, my darling 💕 – you can either go for the traditional and affordable brands like KEE WAH Bakery 🥮, or treat yourself to the one from Hong Kong Rosewood if you’re feeling extra bougie 💎✨.

Side note: Hong Kong Rosewood now offers an egg tart that costs USD 14 🥚🥧 – that’s expensive, isn’t it?! 💸😱
Comment down below – would you give it a go?! 🤔🍴 And is it worth it?!
When it comes to egg rolls, I don’t think I need to recommend too many because there are just so many great shops out there when you walk around Hong Kong! 🏙️✨
11. Wong To Yick Medicated oil
Woodlock Oil’s unique formulation combines several active ingredients known for their therapeutic properties:

Methyl Salicylate (50%): Known for its anti-inflammatory properties, it helps reduce swelling and relieve pain in muscles and joints. 💪🩹

That being said, there are many fake ones out there 😬 – so make sure you buy it from legit stores like Watsons or Mannings in Hong Kong! 🛍️✔️
