As the saying goes “Life is better on the water” 💦✨.
The older I get, the more I find how real this quote is💭.
There’s just something so magical and healing about setting sail on a cruise 🛳️💫.

From the ocean breeze 💨 to stunning horizons 🌅 to all kinds of entertainments and activities 🎭🎯, a cruise trip never fails to reset my mood and make me feel the most refreshed 🧘♀️💆♀️.
And in this article, I’m gonna especially share the cruise wear for sophisticated 40 and 50 years old or up ladies 👗👠👒.
And as a person who BIG on practicality, I’m making sure all these pieces can transition seamlessly from ship to shore, making them worthy investments for your travel wardrobe long after you’ve docked back home 🏝️.
To promote the inclusivity (As we should! 💯), I am including both regular and plus size ladies together with some helpful styling tips 👚👙👗
1. Pick the right type of print for cruise trip
When it comes to a summer cruise trip, well, a breezy, gorgeous print dress is just a no-brainer 👗✨.
That being said, I get it, some of you might think wearing big prints is off-limits and tends to exaggerate the figure visually 🤔👀.

Well, while that can be true, there are many ways to work around it and we don’t necessarily have to avoid having fun with prints at all cost! 🎨🙌
A trick is to always pick the print dress with a black background color (like this dress above) so the solid black is here to keep the figure flattering 🖤💯.

Plus, black background print dresses just appear to be more sophisticated and fit ladies over 50! 👸🏼👸🏾
2. When in doubt, add a white shirt
For the ladies who are not too comfortable showing their arms in a sleeveless dress, no worries as you are definitely not alone! 🤗💕

There’s nothing wrong about it and guess what, you can always throw on a white tee or white shirt to recreate this look 👚🔄.
To make sure you achieve a good body proportion, tie up your tee, make it cropped and that can make your legs appear to be longer! 📏✨
3. Match the tone from head to toe
Another way to wear busy print — keep the rest of the outfit minimal 🧘♀️✨.
And added to this, I suggest you match the top and the shoes in the same color, that way, your figure will be elongated from head to toe and appear to be longer and slimmer! 📏💯

By the way, harem pants are a WONDERFUL choice for a carefree cruise trip — lightweight and super breathable 👖🌬️.
Seriously, it’s a CRIME not to try harem pants.
This hobo harem pants are the ones I have bought on Amazon by the way – happy share!
4. Peplum dress for formal cruise dinner
When it comes to the fancy dinner at the cruise, I got you too 👗🥂.
My mum is now in her 50s and she has the tummy especially after menopause 👩🦰💫.

These days, she has been wearing peplum dress for any formal occasion 👠🎭.
The reason? It’s so body-flattering! 💯👌
Featuring the extra stripe of flared fabric, it just camouflages the belly area PERFECTLY and sculpts an hourglass illusion ⏳✨.
So yeah ladies, if you don’t know this kind of peplum dress, get one and you will get addicted ❤️🛍️
5. Surprise yourself with pink
And OMG if you know about color psychology (it’s real science, bestie! 🧠✨), bright and pastel colors totally boost your mood! 💕🌈

So ladies, even in your fabulous 50s or 60s, PLEASE rock some pink on your cruise! 💖👑
A pink shirt with white pants? STUNNING and so classy! 👚👖 Especially with those high platform espadrille wedges! 👡💯

Or how about a sleek pink shirt dress with cute sandal flats? 👗👡 Adding those gold accessories makes it next-level preppy and aesthetic! ✨🌟 Trust me on this one! 💋
6. Bring a poncho
Is it just me, or do bold colors hit different when you’re on vacation or a relaxing cruise trip? 🎨⛴️
Bringing a poncho isn’t just practical—it’s stylish in the most effortlessly chic way. A white top and pants look too plain?

Just throw on a fun poncho, and suddenly the whole aesthetic is elevated tenfold! ✨
Another cute combo: cinch it with a belt to accentuate your silhouette a bit.

For some reason, this outfit just looks so expensive and high fashion. 💃💼
I can totally see myself rocking this ensemble in my 50s—and loving every second of it. 💁♀️👠
7. Wear supportive shoes on a cruise
Last but definitely not least, we NEED to talk about the cute and comfortable sandals for the summer cruising! 🚢☀️
These pink Skechers are my mum’s ride-or-die! 💖👡 (For me I’m rocking lace up espadrilles these days)

According to her, this paris are so comfy for all-day ship adventures and super breathable for those hot deck days!
If your feet get cranky (my PSA issues were SCREAMING before these), they’re literally life-changing! 🙌✨
The mesh keeps your feet cool and the padding is heaven! 😇 And for dinner? Those wedges are THE MOMENT! 👠🔥
Looks fab with everything since packing space is tight! Trust my mom on this one! 💕
Another function pair!

Their mesh fabric allows for optimal airflow, while their padded insoles cushion and support your feet.
For a strappier option that is great for evenings, these wedge sandals elevate your outfit and make it look amazing.
Dress them up or down for a versatile choice, perfect for the limited packing options cruising allow
